Your Cinco de Mayo 2022 Guide To Enjoy With Your Friends

While Cinco de Mayo officially celebrates the 1862 Mexican army’s victory over the French, it’s become a holiday that people across the world celebrate. Typically, most people would spend the day eating at Mexican restaurants, downing margaritas and throwing parties.

Holidays are meant to bring people together, so let’s do that with Cinco de Mayo this year. When celebrating Cinco de Mayo is there really any other choice than a tequila cocktail?

This year, whether you opt for the traditional margarita or shake things up with a smokey Mezcal drink, avoid the crowded and pricey Mexican restaurants and mix up these tasty cocktails instead. We’ve rounded up the very best cocktails to help you celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a fun fiesta at home.

Cinco de Mayo Cocktails

Campo Verde Margarita (Green Field)

Ingredients

1 ½ oz Tequila Don Julio Blanco

1 oz Fresh Lime Juice

¾ oz Agave Nectar

2 Slices Cucumber (Muddled)

3–4 Basil Leaves

Spicy salt or regular salt (half of the rim)

Method

Rim half of a chilled coupe glass with salt. Muddle cucumber slices in a cocktail shaker. Add Tequila Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime juice, agave nectar and fresh ice and shake well. Strain contents into the coupe glass, garnish with a cucumber ribbon and basil leaf.

Perfect Patrón Margarita

Ingredients

1.5 oz PATRÓN Silver

1 oz PATRÓN Citrónge Orange

.75 oz Fresh lime juice

.25 oz Simple syrup

Lime wedge for garnish

Kosher salt (optional)

Method

Combine liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice to chill. Strain onto fresh ice in a rocks glass and garnish with a lime wedge. Optionally, salt half the rim of the glass with kosher salt.

PATRÓN Perfect Paloma

Ingredients

1.5 oz Patrón Reposado

3 oz Fresh grapefruit juice

.5 oz Agave syrup (1:1)

.5 oz Fresh-squeezed lime juice

1 oz Sparkling water

Sugar and salt for rimming

Grapefruit wedge for garnish

Method

Combine all ingredients except sparkling water in a shaker tin and shake with ice to chill. Strain onto fresh ice in a sugar and salt rimmed collins glass. Top with sparkling water and garnish with a grapefruit wedge.

Jalapeño Margarita

Ingredients

1 ½ part Tequila Cazadores Blanco

½ part Premium Triple Sec

½ part Agave Nectar

1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

1 Slice of Jalapeño

Method

In a cocktail shaker with ice combine all the ingredients, shake and serve over the rocks in glass.

Grand Margarita

Ingredients

1 part Grand Marnier® Cordon Rouge

1 part Tequila

.5 part Fresh Lime Juice

Ice cubes

Lime Garnish

Method

Fill a wide, shallow dish with 2–3 mm of fine salt. Cut a lime in half at the width and rub around half of the rim of a margarita glass. Cut a thin, crosswise slice from one of the lime halves for garnish. Holding glass upside down, dip wet half delicately into the salt. Shake Grand Marnier, tequila and lime juice with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into glass and apply lime garnish to the rim.

Prickly Pear & Agave Margarita

Ingredients

1 1/2 parts Tequila Cazadores Blanco

¼ oz. St. Germain

1 oz. lime juice

3/4 oz. agave nectar

1 oz. Fresh Prickly Pear Puree

Manny’s Salt Rim

Method

In a mixing glass, add all the ingredients with ice, shake and serve on the rocks (salt rim optional).

Cincoro Margarita

Ingredients

2 oz Cincoro Blanco

.75 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao

.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice

.25 oz Agave Nectar

Method

Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin, add ice and shake vigorously until cold (shake longer if served up, shake shorter if served on the rocks). Garnish with Half-Salt Rim and Scored Lime Wedge

Avión Cristalino Clear-Cut Martini

Ingredients

2 oz / 2 parts Avión Cristalino

½ oz / ½ part Lillet Blanc

Method

Stir and strain over a cold martini glass.

Garnish with a lemon twist.

BEACH LIFE PALOMA

Ingredients

2 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional® Tequila Plata*

4 oz Tonic

1 oz Grapefruit Juice

Grapefruit Wedge

Method

Place ice in a high-ball glass and add the ingredients. Stir and garnish with grapefruit wedge.

Blood Moon

Curated special for Taurus Season by Astrolgist Aliza Kelly, The Blood Moon cocktail is perfect to enjoy during celestial moments during the season such as the upcoming lunar eclipse on May 15, or celebratory occasions like Cinco de Mayo.

Ingredients

1.5 oz Astral Tequila Blanco

1.5 oz Fresh Blood Orange Juice

0.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice

1 tsp Agave Nectar

Sparkling Blood Orange Soda to top

Method

Combine first four ingredients into a cocktail shaker, add ice, shake and strain into an ice filled glass. Top with sparkling blood orange soda.

The Original Margarita

Ingredients

1 oz. Cointreau

2 oz. blanco tequila

1 oz. fresh lime juice

Method

Wet rim of a rocks glass with lime and dip in salt. Set aside.

Combine the Cointreau, blanco tequila, and fresh lime juice in a cocktail shaker

Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds

Fill the prepared salt-rimmed rocks glass with ice and strain cocktail into the glass. Garnish with a lime wheel

Fiero Margarita

Ingredients

1 ½ oz Patron Silver

¾ oz Martini & Rossi Fiero

¾ oz lime juice

½ oz agave syrup

Method

Shake and strain into rocks glass with new ice, lime wheel garnish. Salt rim optional.

ORIGINAL DELEÓN “LOVE” MARGARITA

Ingredients

1 ½ oz. DeLeón Tequila Blanco

½ oz. Orange Liqueur

½ oz. Fresh Lime

½ oz. Fresh Lemon

1 Orange Slice

¾ oz. Agave Nectar Syrup

Method

Rim rocks glass. Muddle orange in a shaker, and add all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into an ice filled rimmed glass. Garnish with a lime wheel and orange wheel.

The Freshest Margarita

Ingredients

2 Parts Milagro Silver

3/4 Part Agave Nectar*

1 Part Fresh Lime Juice

1 Lime Wheel

Method

Pour All Ingredients Into A Boston Shaker. Add Ice, Shake And Strain Over Fresh Ice Into A Rocks Glass.

Garnish With A Lime Wheel.

Or Substitute With Simple Syrup.

Espolòn Reposado Spicy Margarita

Ingredients

45 ml Espolòn Reposado

15 ml of Ancho Reyes Verde

30 ml Fresh Lime Juice

10 ml agave syrup (depending on sweetness)

Method

Shake ingredients with plenty of ice, double strain in a in a coupette. Garnish with lime peel/wedge. Premium coupette (or rock as an alternative “on the rocks”)

Hornitos Don Francisco Margarita

Ingredients

2 Parts Hornitos Plata or Reposado Tequila

1 Part Orange Juice

½ Part Lime Juice

¾ Part Honey Syrup

Orange Wheel

Edible Marigold

Salt & Chili Powder Rim

Method

Put equal parts salt and chili powder on a plate. Use an orange or lime wedge to wet the rim of the glass, and gently roll it into the salt/chili powder. Combine cocktail ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into your rimmed rocks glass over fresh ice.

ZO El Caballo Blanco

Ingredients

2oz Izo Bacanora

.5oz Clarified Apple Syrup*

2 Dashes Citric, Malic, & Tartaric Acid tincture

Method

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass, stir and pour over a large rock. Garnish with an expressed orange peel and sal de gusano.

Juice apples and then drip filter through a coffee filter. Cut the clarified juice equal parts by weight with sugar.

Spicy BABE

Ingredients

1.5 oz blanco tequila

1 250ml can of BABE Rosé with bubbles

1.5 oz lime juice

1 oz simple syrup

1 small watermelon

1 Jalapeño Pepper

Fresh mint, to garnish (optional)

Roses, to garnish (optional)

Method

Combine tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker. Cut two 1-inch cubes of watermelon and one circular slice of jalapeño pepper and add to the shaker. (If you want it less spicy, omit the seeds of the pepper). Muddle until thoroughly blended. Add ice and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. Double strain into a wine glass over a large ice cube. Fill the glass to the top with BABE Rosé with bubbles and garnish with mint, rose and jalapeño.

BETTY BUZZ SPARKLING MARGARITA

Ingredients

1.5 oz Tequila

1/2 Bottle Betty Buzz Sparkling Lemon Lime

1 oz agave or simple syrup

Method

Start with a lowball glass and add ice, tequila, agave, Betty Buzz Sparkling Lemon Lime, and stir together. Garnish with a lime wheel.

The Enchanted Forest

Ingredients

1.5 oz Mijenta Blanco Tequila

.5 oz of Blue Curacao

.5 oz pineapple juice

.5 oz lime juice

.5 oz vanilla Horchata

Method

Shake and strain into cocktail glass

Garnish with moss, dry ice and micro flowers

Mijenta Paloma

Ingredients

2 parts Mijenta Blanco Tequila

1 part grapefruit juice

.5 part lime juice

1 part agave/cinnamon syrup

Top with prosecco

Method

Shake all ingredients with plenty of ice

Strain into a wine glass filled with ice

Top with prosecco

Garnish with grapefruit peel

Sagamore Spirit’s Ryegarita

Ingredients

1 oz Sagamore Spirit Distiller’s Select Tequila Finish

1 oz Triple Sec

1 oz Lime Juice

½ oz Agave Nectar

Crushed Ice

Sliced Jalapeno with or without seeds to taste

Lime for garnish

Sagamore Paloma

Ingredients

1.5 oz Sagamore Spirit Distiller’s Select Tequila Finish

1 oz Honey Simple Syrup

4 oz Grapefruit Juice

Splash of Club Soda

Hibiscus Cooler

Ingredients

1.5oz. Dos Hombres Mezcal

.50oz. Agave Syrup

.75oz. Fresh Lime Juice

10z. Hibiscus Tea

Top with soda water

Method

Add all ingredients minus soda water to a shaker tin with ice. Shake then strain into a rocks glass over ice. Top with soda water. Garnish with dried hibiscus flowers and lime wheel. Enjoy!
