Weekend Recipes: It’s National Whiskey Sour Day

Whiskey Sour Day is coming up on August 25th, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by, you know, drinking the drink. Local bartenders are mixing up tasty sours all over the city now that outdoor dining is still a thing, and if you are staying in you can enjoy these favorite recipes below:
Johnnie Walker Whisky Sour
Ingredients
1.5 oz Johnnie Walker Black Label
.5 oz lemon juice
.5 oz simple syrup
2 dashes aromatic bitters
Add in optional egg white
Garnish: Lemon Curl
Glassware: Rocks glass
Preparation: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients. Shake hard for 7–10 seconds (double this if you’re using egg white) to mix all the ingredients. Strain into a glass, remove the ice and shake again without ice. Strain and serve either neat or over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lemon curl.
Buchanan’s James Blackberry
Ingredients
1.5 oz Buchanan’s Deluxe.5 oz lemon juice
4–5 Blackberries, muddled
.75 Honey Syrup (2 parts honey, 1 part water)
.5 oz Chambord
.75 oz Lemon Juice
Garnish: Mint Bouquet + Lemon
Preparation: Lightly muddle 4–5 blackberries in a cocktail shaker. Add remaining ingredients and shake over ice. Double strain so seeds of the blackberries don’t leak through. Pour over crushed ice in a rocks glass.
