Still no host for the upcoming Academy Awards, but let’s toast

As you know, there is so much more to the Oscars than over-the-top dresses, painful poker faces and watching the winners awkwardly shimmy off the stage to the crescendo of the music while grasping on to a little golden man for dear life — although that bit is very entertaining.

We had the infamous streaker of 1974, the living legend that is J-Law defy gravity and fall up the red-carpet stairs in 2013 and of course the great mix-up of 2017, when poor auld Bonnie + Clyde read out the wrong winning title and all hell broke loose.

Overall, the 91 years have been good to us, so let’s cheers to the leading ladies + gents of the past and get ready to see what the 2019 Oscars has it store for us with these Oscar inspired libations!

Leading Gent — Leonardo DiCaprio

Ahh Leo — the little engine that could. While the world is still in mourning for Jack Dawson, and although we were SO sure that his role as Jordan Belfort would suffice, those Oscars just kept slipping through his fingers! However, in 2016 — Leo brought home the Oscar for best actor and all was right with the world again!

Leading Lady — Whoopi Goldberg

This leading lady can do no wrong, she is a comedian, actress and human rights advocate. She graces our screens every day as a long-time host of “ The View “ and is one of the very few to have won an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award and a Tony award. Stealing our hearts in the Movie “Ghost” as Oda Mae Brown, a psychic that can communicate with the spirits — Whoopi is loved for her heart, her voice and her ability to play just about any role under the sun.

Leading Lady — Jennifer Lawrence

We simply couldn’t mention the Academy Awards without including our resident Golden Girl. With THE most epic award acceptance ever, J-Law showed us that we are in fact all human, and can be a little topsy turvy sometimes. Not all heroes wear capes folks!

George Clooney is a man of many talents, holding Academy Awards for both acting and producing, his ridiculously chiseled face has been a staple on the red carpet for over 20 years and with an amazing wife like Amal — it just doesn’t get much better. Okay, so I know Saoirse didn’t actually win an Academy Award but she received her first nomination at the ripe age of 13, has been nominated twice since, and is the proud owner of a Golden Globe. She has come a long way from one of the smallest towns in Ireland, and now that the public can actually pronounce her name correctly — we feel like she will be an official leading lady before we know it!
