This summer, Cooper & Thief Cellarmasters teamed up with Brooklyn-based Ceramicist and all around creative-cool-girl Josephine Heilpern of Recreation Center (@josephinenoel) to create a custom ceramic drinking set inspired by the art of craftsmanship.

A twist on the traditional Mexican Talavera-style “Tequilero” serving ceramics, the Cooper & Thief x Recreation Center Carafe Set is handmade to enjoy Cooper & Thief’s Ex-Tequila Barrel Aged Sauvignon Blanc. These pieces are now available (in limited supply!) on RecreationCenterShop.com for $175.

Inspired by the daring and unexpected flavor notes in Cooper & Thief’s sauvignon blanc imparted by tequila barrel-aging the wine, the limited-edition set evokes Mexican heritage with a markedly modern twist.

In true Josephine fashion, signature Recreation Center design features on each set, which includes a wine carafe and two drinking cups. Carafe and cups are wheel thrown, with exterior decorated in high gloss yellow glaze, leaving shapes unglazed to reveal raw speckled clay.

Interiors are wine safe (of course!) and glazed in high gloss white with black speckles, to showcase the Cooper & Thief Ex-Tequila Barrel Aged Sauvignon Blanc’s color.

All pieces are hand-made, telling goes beyond the surface, each piece telling its own distinctive story behind the unique journey from potter’s wheel to kiln, with slight variations in size, finish and color.

This set is the perfect statement piece on summer tables alongside the 2016 Cooper & Thief’s Ex-Tequila Barrel Aged Sauvignon Blanc (SRP $29.99, available at fine wine stores nationwide and can be located locally on the Cooper & Thief website).
