SATC Premiere Guide: Classic & Creative Cosmopolitan Recipes

Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte are FINALLY back this Thursday with the much anticipated premiere of “And Just Like That…” on HBO Max, and we’re celebrating just the way they taught us: with a round of glamourous, fabulous Cosmos.

SATC made the Cosmo an it-drink — so much so that it soon became an out-drink for the better part of the millennium. But Y2K is trending, baby, and bartenders are now making more Cosmos and martini-glass cocktails than they have in years.

In fact, 1 in 4 cocktails is now served in a martini glass in on-premise accounts across the US (according to Technomic), largely due to the recent rise of our favorite 90s cocktails, including Cosmos, Espresso Martinis and Apple Martinis (according to Bacardi Analytics).

A variation on the standard sour cocktail ratio (2 oz spirit + 1 oz sweet + 1 oz sour), the Cosmo is, actually, downright delicious, combining sweet cranberry and orange flavors with a squeeze of tart lime. Belvedere Cosmopolitan

Ingredients

1.5 oz Belvedere

.75 oz lime juice

.5 oz honey or (.75 oz simple)

.25 oz cranberry juice

4–5 mint leaves

Method

Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, add mint leaves by slapping in the palm of your hand and drop into the shaker. Shake with ice, strain into a cocktail shaker and garnish with a lime wheel

Grey Goose Cosmopolitan

Ingredients

2 oz Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka

¾ oz Triple Sec

¾ oz Cranberry Juice

¼ oz Fresh Lime Juice

Orange Twist

Method

Combine first four ingredients in order listed into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with orange twist.

I Love You, But I Love Me More

Ingredients

1 ½ oz Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka

¾ oz Patron Citrónge

½ oz Fresh Lime Juice

¾ oz lychee puree

1 ½ oz Pomegranate Juice

Method: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain over ice into a chilled martini glass.

Absolut White Cosmopolitan

Ingredients

Ice Cubes

1⅓ Parts Absolut Citron

⅔ Part Triple Sec

⅔ Part Lime Juice

⅔ Part White Cranberry Juice

1 Twist Orange Zest

Method

Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twisted orange zest.

Absolut Not-So-Cosmopolitan

Ingredients

Ice Cubes

1 Part Absolut Citron

⅔ Part Triple Sec

⅔ Part Passion Fruit Purée

⅓ Part White Cranberry Juice

⅓ Part Lime Juice

⅓ Part Simple Syrup

1 Dash Blue Curacao

1 Slice Carambola

Method

Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add all ingredients. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with carambola.

ORANJE COSMOPOLITAN

Ingredients

1.5 oz. Ketel One Oranje® Flavored Vodka

0.5 oz. pomegranate juice

splash of fresh lemon sour

3 orange slices

Method

Muddle orange slices, pomegranate juice and fresh lemon sour in a mixing glass. Add Ketel One Oranje and shake with ice. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist or fresh orange slices.
