Rooftops and Beer Halls and Rockaways, Oh My!
Although the weather doesn’t quite yet show it, Spring has sprung, and what better way to welcome the (soon-to-come) sunshine than by getting outside and pairing a cold beverage with some Vitamin D. To help you navigate your way into the warmer weather, we’ve rounded up some great outdoor bars for 2018!
Though Refinery Rooftop, the crown jewel of the Refinery Hotel, is a year-round rooftop lounge, nothing quite compares to a perfect Spring afternoon with a Frosé in one hand, sun on your face, and breathtaking Empire State views all around.
To kick off this rooftop season, Refinery is introducing a Spring Rosé menu, complete with a Sparkling Rosé cocktail, Wölffer Dry Rosé Cider on draft, or a Frosé Slushie! The new season menu will be launching in May, just in time to absorb the sun and the skyline. For reservations, contact (646) 664–0372.
Also in time for the changing seasons, the team behind Williamsburg’s Spritzenhaus opened a Manhattan beer hall, Grünhaus just days ago. The Lower East Side venue is brimming with greenery, communal tables, and Jenga.
Once the weather cooperates, the garage-style windows along the exterior will open to transform the beer hall into a breezy beer garden where guests can enjoy 30 rotating draft beers, Belgian fries, one of ten different brats, and more! Paired with a Spring breeze and Lower East Side people watching, Grünhaus is the perfect new season watering hole.
For those who’d prefer the waterfront over the cityscape, Bungalow Bar is your outdoor dining gem. Just a scenic boat ride away from the bustle of Manhattan, this year-round beachside hideaway is less than a mile from the Rockaway Ferry and sits at the foot of the Crossbay Bridge.
With panoramic waterfront views and breathtaking sunsets, there’s no excuse needed to come down and dine at a table on the grass or at the outdoor deck and tiki bar. Cap off the experience with a delicious lobster roll and Bungalow Bar’s signature Frozen. For a truly instagrammable moment, indulge on the $20 Pineapple Express — rum, Coco Lopez, pineapple juice and Myers Rum served in a hollowed out pineapple and topped with rum-soaked pineapple skewers. For reservations, contact (718) 945–2100.
A staple in NYC’s Meatpacking District, Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC has been a go-to luxury hotel in the neighborhood for more than 13 years, bringing cool to Meatpacking.
The 14-floor property features 186 rooms — including 23 suites and one Duplex Penthouse suite — that complement the surrounding area’s eclectic mix of meat warehouses and retrofit storefronts. The location of Gansevoort Meatpacking couldn’t be any better as they are located close to NYC’s High Line, Chelsea Market, and steps from the shopping of SoHo.
Gansevoort Meatpacking was one of the first hotels in NYC to add a rooftop to this urban resort. With 360 degree views of NYC and the Hudson River, Plunge Rooftop + Lounge brings a unique mix of cocktails, wines and beers to the neighborhood. Gansevoort’s own plunge pool is located on the rooftop and is open year-round.
