North America’s 2018 ‘Most Imaginative Bartender’ Winner Announced

On September 14th in London, England Chicago’s Carley Gaskin (Disco) was crowned the USBG’s 12th Annual Most Imaginative Bartender winner presented by BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Gin (MIB).

With her innovative, zero-waste cocktailGeb’s Reviver”, Carley beat out 15 of North America’s most talented bartenders in a series of three intense challenges taking place throughout the week, beginning at Bombay Sapphire’s BREEAM-award winning Laverstoke Mill Distillery in Hampshire. Carley joins an illustrious roster of esteemed mixologists that are redefining and elevating the industry’s creative standards.

Hailing from Chicago, Carley spent her career in various cocktail bars throughout the region, before finding her home at fast-paced cocktail club Disco. Widely respected in Chicago for her innovative approach to cocktail craft, Carley created a curated competition drink menu featuring all no-waste and sustainable ingredients, a trend continuing to make waves in the industry.

Her recipes were put to the test in a “Guest Bar Shift”, “Botanical Challenge”, and the “Final Cocktail Showcase”, scored on flavor, imagination, presentation, and cocktail appearance by this year’s judges: Bombay Sapphire’s Global Ambassador Raj Nagra, USBG VP and Phoenix beverage consultant Kim Hassarud, and acclaimed Austin mixologist and 2015 MIB winner, Justin Lavenue (The Roosevelt Room).
