Inside The LRS FW18 Collection Presented During New York Fashion Week
New York-based independent label, LRS, presented their fifth NYFW show in an unconventional format, partnering with Next Cleaners to display the Fall/Winter 2018 collection.
Once again, LRS pushed traditional boundaries, breaking away from the norm by presenting the FW18 collection on a conveyor belt- proving that New York Fashion Week always has room for new innovation and exploration. LRS designer, Raul Solis, collaborated with photographer, Ryker Allen, to create images that became the photo montage print for the collection.
Allen focused on shooting familiar subjects such as portraits, animals, and still lifes to create a tone for the overall collection. While past LRS collections have seen dress and evening wear, the FW18 collection went back to basics with classic, everyday pieces. T-shirts, trench coats and boxy, oversized proportions worked well with Solis’ fabric choices of denim, vinyl, leather and silk.
Key pieces included: Draped vinyl dress, re-purposed trench coat worn as cape and portrait print column dress Straying away from a traditional runway format allowed the collection to showcase its casual sensibilities.
Making the decision to show in a dry-cleaners was fitting to the raw and real feel of this season’s collection. LRS focused on separates, reminding show-goers to take their high-end garments to the dry-cleaners for proper care.
