Although it doesn’t feel like spring yet, rooftop season is fast approaching! We’ve included details below on several options throughout the city including New York’s only rooftop with a putt-putt course and moving carousel (Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge at Moxy Times Square), a pool with real sand imported from the Hamptons (The Beach at Dream Downtown), a rooftop with a DIY Moscow Mule Bar (PHD Terrace at Dream Downtown), among others.

Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge at Moxy Times Square (485 7th Avenue, New York, NY, 212.268.0188)

Perched 18 floors above the city, Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge boasts five carnival-themed distinct environments and is the largest indoor/outdoor all-season hotel rooftop in New York City. The gallery-like entrance hall features whimsical topiary animals in naughty positions. A small interior lounge has a sexy urban-industrial vibe, with wire mesh panels riveted to the ceiling and walls.

There are two separate outdoor areas: The east side, overlooking the Empire State Building, has elegant garden-party fixtures, while the west is more overtly carnival-esque, offering a rotating carousel for seating.

Tucked into a corner is the hotel’s most Instagrammed feature: Foreplay, a miniature putt-putt course designed by TAO Group, that, instead of windmills, has follies of colossal-size animals in flirty poses. A menu of shareable light bites is rooted in the world of state fair while an impressive list of over-the-top cocktails are available including the Disco Ball For All and Popcorn Anyone that can be shared amongst a group of friends.

The Beach at Dream Downtown (355 West 16th Street, New York, NY, 212.229.2336)

Channeling the glamour of the Côte d’Azur in the heart of New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, The Beach at Dream Downtown is the largest hotel pool in New York City boasting 4,800 square foot beach and a glass bottom swimming pool looking into the hotel lobby.

The Beach includes real Hamptons-imported sand and private cabanas that come complete with flat screen TV’s and lounges. Groups can order from a menu of large scale cocktails inside a Fresh Fruit like a Watermelon Keg with Herradura Blanco, fresh watermelon, habanero pepper and fresh lime.

PHD Terrace at Dream Midtown (210 West 55th St., New York, NY, 646.756.2044)

The tri-level expanded rooftop space provides an escape from the hustle and bustle of midtown Manhattan. Almost double in size since opening, the roof has now opened an elevated third-floor portion that offers a more intimate atmosphere.

Guests can experience a full 360 view of Midtown and Times Square while enjoying a beverage selection ranging from refreshing cocktails to large format pitchers like Owen’s Craft Mixer’s famous 10lb Mega Moscow Mule. On Saturday’s throughout the spring and summer, candy lovers can indulge in a DIY Moscow Mule bar where guests can create & decorate their very own version of the signature Moscow Mule with an assortment of candy from Lower East Side gourmet candy shop, Bon Bon.

PHD Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown (355 West 16th Street, New York, NY, 212.229.2336)

At the southern edge of Chelsea, PHD Rooftop Lounge sits atop Dream Downtown. PHD Rooftop Lounge is a fine-cut diamond of glass and polished surfaces. Triple-tiered chandeliers with hundreds of glass rods hang above marble tables and leather seats where New York twinkles in the expanded view of the Hudson River and Empire State Building.
