El Museo del Barrio Celebrates New Chief Curator Rodrigo Moura
El Museo del Barrio board member Yolanda Santos opened her art-filled New York residence to celebrate the appointment of their distinguished new chief curator, Rodrigo Moura.
Hailing from Brazil, Moura will expand understanding and the scope of El Museo’s permanent collection, foster relationships with artists, and deepen its relationship to Puerto Rican, Latinx, and Latin American communities. Moura joins El Museo del Barrio after twelve years at Instituto Inhotim in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, home to one of the largest foundations of contemporary art in Brazil.
El Museo director Patrick Charpenel spoke movingly of the future of El Museo with Moura while their chairman, María Eugenia Maury, with her husband William Haseltine, and Chair Emeritus Tony Bechara, looked on. Other guests included Ella Fontanals-Cisneros, Ileana de la Cruz, Isabella and Diego Hutchinson, Mary Jane Marcasiano and Ralph Gibson, Annabelle Mariaca, Nessia Pope, Tracey Riese, Jean Shafiroff, Elizabeth Steimberg, Susanna V. Temkin, and Carolina von Humboldt.
Cocktails made from the Facundo Rum Collection’s exclusive aged rums from the Bacardi family’s private reserve (and named in honor of the company’s founder, Don Facundo Bacardi Massó) kept the party percolating.
