Drake & Virgil Abloh Collaborate For A Special Performance At Miami Art Week
Miami Art Basel is in full swing! On Thursday, December 7th, 2017, American Express provided attendees a once-in-a lifetime visual convergence of art and music during this year’s Miami Art Week.
The brand built an immersive, experiential Platinum House — located on the beachfront of the Miami Beach EDITION Hotel — where guests witnessed the sounds of groundbreaking Grammy award-winning artist Drake and spins by talented creative designer and DJ, Virgil Abloh.
Drake performed his top hits under the iridescent lights of the Platinum House stage, with guests witnessing his scrolling lyrics live from drones above.
Notable guests included Michael B Jordan, Amar’e Stoudemire, Olivia Culpo, Timbaland, Tash Oakley, Bryan Boy, Rocky Barnes, Dev Windsor, Jennifer Fisher, Hannah Bronfman, Brendan Fallis, Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow of Public School and more.
American Express Platinum Card Members will continue to have incredible access and elevated experiences in Miami Beach at the Platinum House throughout the weekend. On Friday (12/8) and Saturday (12/9) the Platinum House will offer premium food, beverages, morning fitness classes curated by Well + Good, beauty services by MILK Makeup, Ouai, and Paintbox, Aura photography and DJ sets.
“We know our Platinum Card Members value exclusive access, unique experiences and superior service, and are also passionate about the arts. The experiences we’ve curated at the Platinum House and throughout Miami this week are the perfect embodiment of these Card Member interests. As a brand, we are committed to enhancing their experiences and believe art and culture play an important role in enriching these journeys,” remarked Janey Whiteside, EVP of Global Charge Products, Benefits and Services at American Express of the experience.
A new collection from Knowlita called Untitled (Vices) will also be exclusively available at the Platinum House. Quincy Moore, Co-Founder of Knowlita and Platinum Collective Member notes, “the collection is broadly inspired by the American Express Platinum lifestyle, a true combination of business and pleasure. Taking design hints from Miami’s iconic typography, aesthetic, and color palette, the graphics center on iterations of Nolita’s infamous “or nowhere” phrase, while also exploring new ideas”.
