CNN’s Don Lemon teams up with Jean Shafiroff at the UNCF Hamptons benefit
It was a rainy weekend in East Hampton on August 18th, but that didn’t stop the Hamptons social scene regulars from coming out to support the United Negro College Fund of New York.
Held at a private residence in East Hampton, the 7th annual UNCF Hamptons Summer benefit raised more than $200,000. Former HBCU president Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole and media titan Edward Lewis were honored for being trailblazers of education and voices of the unheard.
Jean Shafiroff was instrumental in securing Don Lemon from CNN to perform as Master of ceremonies. We must say we are enjoying this friendship between the pair, Shafiroff was decked out in a B.Michael cocktail dress and Lemon was quite stylish in his pink chinos.
Close to 200 guests attended the celebratory weekend, including celebrity stylist Ty Hunter and actor Sarunas Jackson of the HBO hit series “Insecure.” Many participants left feeling inspired and ready to champion for education and the important work UNCF work UNCF does to help deserving students get to and through college.
