With a variety of calendar days dedicated to various causes across the globe, one might ask — Why does the world need Women’s Entrepreneurship Day/ChooseWOMEN and why should I support it? The answer lives within these basic facts: Women account for 85 percent of consumer purchases and control $20 trillion in worldwide spending. At the same time, they perform 66 percent of the world’s work and only earn 10 percent of the world’s income.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) is a movement that carries throughout the year in support of women in business globally. WED ignites women leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to initiate startups, drive economic expansion, and advance communities worldwide.

WED is celebrated in 144 countries and 65 universities/colleges internationally, with an legion of global ambassadors! The WED mission is to empower the 4 billion women worldwide to be catalysts of change, and uplift the over 250 million girls living in poverty around the world.

They are proud to share that New York State’s Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City’s Mayor Bill De Blasio proclaimed Women’s Entrepreneurship Day an official day on November 19th annually. They look forward to more world leaders officially proclaiming the day!

They are excited to announce that they are partnering with RCA and CBS to create a PSA video to proclaim the Wednesday after Thanksgiving to support women in business. RCA artists include Justin Timberlake, Shakira, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys, to name a few (depending on schedules) will be singing our tune! More participating artists are TBD and the PSA is confirmed to air during the month of November on CBS!

They are proud to sponsor an inspiring and impressive group of young women from Girls Who Code, Black Girls Code and Restart Academy who will be attending our 2017 WED UN event. They hope you can make their dreams come true by sponsoring a table on their behalf, giving these enthused young girls the exposure and opportunity to network with successful women leaders, entrepreneurs, and business game changers.
